Pet Cemetary is promoted for snorkeling excursions as Mystic River as this cavern area has a huge and very dark snorkel section. This means for the diver that we can penetrate far into a cave system and at the same time still respect one of the important rules of cavern diving that states never to be further away from a surface with exit than 60m/ 200 ft.
I particularly love the outside of the cenote, as the owners built very ecologically using wood only. The calcit sediment that was dragged out of the cenote to give some snorkel possibilities in the entrance area, fills now the paths down to the cenote and to the other installations. You will feel like in paradise here. The dive itself is another true jewel because of the formations and the reflections and the possibility to see fossils and some extraordinary living creatures. Also this site was only opened to cavern diving in 2008 and unfortunately we also can document the deterioriation of the cave because of insufficient buoyancy skills of the divers. Don’t be misled as it is so shallow, shallow water diving is the most complicated and once you master this I may take you here and then you may find yourself ready to do the next step and get your training in overhead environment.
